My early morning walks begin in the time between night and sunrise.
My companions are the silent streets, shadowed trees, and my thoughts.

Today, my path is dampened by a late night’s rain.
Its raindrops hang heavy on the flowers along my way.

As the sun slowly rises, the sky goes peach above the mountain crests and tree tops, slipping into shades of orange and yellow.
Night clouds edged with red, lighten to gray, then to cream and white.

Sunrise brings the morning’s promise of possibilities.
I revel in it, slowing my pace to enjoy the peace of these moments.

Too soon, I turn towards home to start my day with the
Memory of the sunrise held close to my heart.
